Hatter - Lights
Hatter releases music video for ‘Lights’ on MXTR, a cautionary tale of a night out gone wrong.
London born, Brighton based, and ready to take over - the Hatzeen's play on words, wicked hooks, creative vision and widely influenced production style makes for an artist paving his own lane.
A collaborative track with Chowerman, Ceezlin, and Marshal Mandiangu, ‘Lights’ is grime, Baile Funk and Jersey Club combined with a classic sample. The music video for ‘Lights’ channeled this same collaborative energy. The Brighton scene pulled together on short notice to film and so a tale of bad decisions was told, filled with all too familiar night out chaos and drama, but with the behind the scenes suitably drenched in community spirit.
This track is a single from Hatter's new project The Soul Pack
Previous support from DJ Target BBC 1Xtra, BBC Introducing Live Lounge, Jyoty on Rinse FM, EARMILK, DJ EZ and editorial playlist placements from Spotify, and with upcoming performances at Brighton Fringe Festival, The Great Escape, Love Supreme Festival and dates in Germany booked in this summer, it’s an exciting and active year for Hatter.
Speaking on the video, Hatter says:
'A cautionary tale. I wanted to do something different with this video and take the main focus away from me and instead tell a narrative that is believable and a regular occurrence every weekend in Britain. With the youth work I do, I wanted to show how easy it is to not fully deep the speed that things can escalate and change your life in a flash if you aren’t careful '
